My role is to find the best music, teaching strategy or game to support the individual pupil to grow. Wherever we end up or how far we go, I hope to have instilled a love of music.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">I&#8217;m inspired by the Kod\u00e1ly\u00a0Method and wish to nurture musicians not just by-products of an exam system. This is particularly the case for my young beginners. This is why I love teaching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colourstrings.co.uk\/instrumental\/cello-teaching\/\">Colourstrings<\/a> or using <a href=\"https:\/\/doremiconnect.co.uk\/doremi-piano-books\/\">doremi<\/a> resources, as both of these book series are Kod\u00e1ly\u00a0based.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">I love seeing the progress of a pupil\u00a0 however miniscule the steps. Practice is the key which is why I try to make my lessons engaging and motivating. With warmth and humour I hope to guide my pupils on a lifetime musical journey.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8212;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><b>Teacher experience<\/b><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">I have over 15 years cello teaching experience. I started by teaching a fellow student while at university. Since then I have taught through music services and privately. Lessons have been 1:1, in pairs and groups up to a whole class of 30 cellists! Many of my students have been beginners but I&#8217;ve also taught all levels up to grade 8. As well as children, I&#8217;ve taught several adult learners either regularly or an a more ad hoc basis.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">I&#8217;ve also been a classroom teacher for over 10 years. I initially started in Early Years but then became a music specialist, teaching class music lessons to all primary school year groups. I currently teach at a Pre-Prep with children aged 2 to 7.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">I&#8217;ve been a piano teacher since 2014. I&#8217;ve taught in school as well as from my home, individual and paired lessons. I am particularly experienced at teaching beginner pianists and tend to hand pupils onto another teacher once they reach Grade 1.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8212;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><b>Qualifications<\/b><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8211; Cello ABRSM Grade 8<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8211; Piano ABRSM Grade 8<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8211; Cello Phase <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colourstrings.co.uk\/teacher-training\/instrumental-training\/\">1 &amp; 2a colourstrings<\/a><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8211; Primary PGCE with music specialism<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0&#8211; Music BA<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8211; Summer school courses in the Kod\u00e1ly Method (BKA), music through movement (Dalcroze UK) and string teaching (ESTA).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">-Arts and Music Leader Training Programme (CM sounds)<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8212;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><b>Background<\/b><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Starting to play the cello from age seven, I gained Grade 8 with distinction at fifteen. I played an active role as a music scholar in school \u2013 performing in Devon, London and touring to Boston, US. I was a member of the Devon County Youth Orchestra and Oxford University Orchestras. Later, I gained Grade 8 on the piano and now\u00a0enjoy accompanying friends and family. My love of chamber music began at university, where I formed a string quartet. After graduating I joined Brent Symphony Orchestra and then formed the Hugo String Quartet in North London. Since becoming a mum, I&#8217;ve renewed my interest in Early Years music education.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8212;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><b>Safeguarding<\/b><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">I am signed up to the <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.crbonline.gov.uk\/crsc\/check?execution=e1s1\">DBS update service<\/a>\u00a0where you can check my current DBS certificate.
